Breclyn is the founder and teacher at Pebblebrook Academy. She is certified in the Montessori teaching method. She has taught preschool in Idaho for over 10 years, taught preschool through Jr High in China for two years, taught Lower Elementary at a Montessori school in Utah for two years, has taught Chinese, and has homeschooled her children for 17 years.
Breclyn is also certified in TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention) as a TBRI Caregiver, and has completed her TBRI Teacher Training. She is currently working on completing her TBRI Practitioner Training through Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development through Texas Christian University, which she will complete in October of 2024.
At Pebblebrook Academy, preschool classes are Tuesday and Thursday from
9:00am-11:30am. Children with special behavioral needs have the option of attending private or smaller group classes where we will focus on TBRI and grow the skills the child needs to feel comfortable in the typical classroom. Those special classes will be arranged for students as needed and may be as few as one day a week or as many as five days a week, depending on what parents decide is best for their child. (At any point, whenever the child is ready, he may enter the typical classroom.)
Breclyn Everett, our teacher at Pebblebrook Academy, graduated from the University of Utah with a major in Chinese and a minor in Asian Studies. She also lived and worked in China for over two years. Breclyn has taught Chinese to both adults and children. As part of our daily curriculum, Breclyn will be incorporating Chinese language into your student's experience at Pebblebrook Academy.
Many studies have shown the benefits of children learning a signed language such as American Sign Language. Breclyn's own young daughter has Auditory Processing Disorder and communicates using ASL. At Pebblebrook Academy, your child will be taught basic ASL, and will be exposed to ASL in the learning environment.
Although not explicitly taught in our curriculum, many of the books in our classroom library include Braille. All children will be exposed to Braille through our library. If your child is blind/VI and would like to attend Pebblebrook Academy, please contact us to arrange accommodation! Your child is welcome to come learn with us!
Although our environment is arranged to accommodate our smallest of students, we want all children ages 3 and older to feel welcome and comfortable learning with us! By calling Pebblebrook a Preschool, we may exclude many students who could benefit from our learning model! We want all children, regardless of age or ability, to feel welcomed to come learn with us!
Absolutely! However, some special consideration must be made and we ask that you contact us directly to discuss specialized care and education planning for your child.
Due to our TBRI foundation, we welcome children who have perhaps been less successful in other preschool or elementary classrooms. We also welcome children who have experienced trauma and need extra care and connection. Every child is welcome at Pebblebrook Academy! There is a place for your child here!
